I just got her lastnight from a lady that takes in Rescued Pitbulls and she was from one of the litters. I feed her puppy chow soaked in warm water, and then her tummy looks real fat and bloated, Is it because she just ate? Because it stays like that for awhile even when she goes and poopies. She has had her first shot and been dewormed, So it cant be anything to do with that. Does anybod know why it's doing this??? I have 5 other American Pitbulls and I dont recell their tummys looking like that when they were pups.
Took her to the banfield animal hospital today at Petsmart and they did a poopy sample, She dont have any kinda worms! She said that when puppies eat like puppy chow (dry food) it gets bigger in their stomach, Ya know like when you take dog food and soak it in a bowl of water, it gets bigger and expands. She said thats what it is because her tummy is little and there is nothing to be worried about. Thanks for all the help guys!!! =)
Worms do not always show up in every fecal test, it's a crapshoot..literally. I would wait two weeks and worm the dog again, just to be safe. There usually is no reason for a dog to have a bloated belly, puppy chow or not.
Also, maybe it's just me.. but I wouldn't trust those Petsmart "vets" as far as I could throw them.
