We(my husband 8yo&4yo boys just adopted a 5 month old catahoula ridgeback mix.She is terrified of everything, getting better though. We have a 6yearold ridgeback they made fast friends.Everyone has told me the catahoula does not make a good pet, however our ridgeback is wonderful and we have 1 acre fenced with dog doors into the house. She has been great with the chickens and turkey and adores the chldren.Just wonder if anyone out there has had experience with this breed.
I would like an update on your situation. I am considering adopting a Catahoula ridgeback mix and I want to know what you think. I have always loved ridgebacks but this is a new mixed breed for me. Let me know whatever information you have.
My boyfriend and I adopted a catahoula ridgebak mix last year (July 2008). She is a very sweet dog, loves to play with all other dogs when we take her to the dog park. The only problem we are having with her is chewing or belongings. she gets bored very fast if she doesn't have something to do. We have been hiding toys in the front yard so she can find them. That has been helping her to keep busy but I am not sure what to do with the chewing. we are taking her to obidence classes at the end of the month hopefully this will be a solution. Great breed for an active family that loves the outdoors. This breed needs plenty of exercise.
I have a 3 month old Ridgeback/Catahoula/Coonhound mix, she is the most beautiful puppy ever. She is sweet and loving but does get bored easily and needs constant stimulation but loves other pets and children and people period. Good Luck and Ill take any advice you can give!! She is very stuborn also :)
