I was told she should grow out of this

runny eyes with hair stains

I have an 11 week Coton with terrrible runny eyes. I brought her tot he vet and yes her tear ducs are blocked. There are many eye drops out there, any suggestions as to might work the best? I was also told she should grow out of this. any suggestions?

most dogs do grow out of it unless there is a medical problem. Tearing most of the time has lot to due with teething. Long hair breeds can have several problems. One is like yours where the ducts are blocked another is eyelashes growing into the eyes.

As far as something to help you. I have heard that Eye Envy is the best. I do not know as I dont have dogs with eye issues. Anything you do will have to be done probably every day, and for most people is a pain. Good luck on what you decide.

I also have a Coton with the same problem and haven't had any luck removing the stains,even with eye envy. Checked with my vet and was assured it was only a cosmetic problem that could be fixed by flushing the tear ducts. However the problem would most likely return. Flushing the tear ducts would only be financially feasible if you intend your dog for show.

Are the stains by chance redish in color? I noticed those on my Coton puppy, but she is now 9 and I haven't seen them in quite a while. Somehow her pet salon seems to be able to get them out also.
