I have been looking at the breed called a Canis Panther. Anyone ever seen one? I think this is going to be my next breed. There is only one known breeder and they are in IL. Here is the website. Take a look. http://www.canispanther.com
I would automatically assume that it's a mix being passed off by these people as a breed. That's what I usually think when there is only one known breeder. *xoxo, FrostyGirl* Thinking of breeding? Go to: http://justonelitter.com/litter.html
Actually they are a mix that was mixed 30 years ago by a man. It was a mix of a black great dane, black lab, american staff and the doberman. They have been successfully breeding them for 30 years and they have bred them to obtain only solid colors.
Sounds interesting. Those are some of my top breeds, so I want one! I could see the pit and dobe in them before when I posted. I think they seem like awesome dogs. *xoxo, FrostyGirl* Thinking of breeding? Go to: http://justonelitter.com/litter.html
never heard of this breed before. there is ot enough information on that site about that breed. i would be a little concerned about getting one. there is no information about breed, temp, size or anything on there to tell me about the dog itself. sorry but it seems to me to be just a back yard operation at first glance. is there any place on the net that has more info?how did you ever even hear of such a dog?
Here is another website that gives alittle more information on them. I would love to have one BUT not with children in the house, so I would have to wait until my kids are grown and gone. From what the site describes they have an aggresive temperment. For now I am going to stick with the Cane Corso. As far as being a designer mutt, they were bred 30 years ago, so yeah designer mutts are not anything new. http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/canispanther.htm
Yeah, I've heard of those big Ol mutts. 30 years or not they still haven't accomplished much. I see some that are very beautiful and others that are very ugly, solid colors, they still don't have consistentcy and after 30 years?
"alphonse i see you said they can be dominant what do you know about them? is there a site that gives more info on them? " I THINK it was pit bull forum that I was browsing when came upon a thread which was realted to canis panther, they guy said he saw one at the shelter and that it was extremely human agressive. Probably due to the fact that it was dominant and the owners didnt train it well.
But cshimizzi, what if your children have grandchildren? They may not be able to visit you because of your dog. I think that they are good looking dogs, but from what that dogbreedinfo website said, they don't sound very stable. Who knows though, I don't. They are striking dogs, but I would do more research before deciding to get one. However, you may be able to socialize one before it became aggressive.
personal opinion here but just from the brief description on dogbreed i would say they are a liability. i would also like to know how they got them to be so human aggressive. a lab isn't, a staff isn't supposed to be, a doberman isn't without provocation and well bred danes generally aren't. i wouold say to stick with the cane corso. thats all the protection anyone needs without such severe limitations as this dog may bring you.
That kind of dog is beautiful. I'm thinking it's a crossbreed...pretty much what everyone suggests. Don't let the word Mutt get to you. Some Mutts are actually some of the best looking dogs and they live a lot longer than a pure breed.
ok first of i have one, and i bought it from rock of ages ok,, and there are 2 kennels that have these dogs, they have been bred for 50 years, and yes they are solid colours,i have had dogs all my life but these are on top, very powerful, highly intelligent, very selective ,if he likes you your ok, if he doesnt watch out, and they are a pure bred with established bloodlines, so do your research before blabbing,, i registerd here just to write this ok, and freind if this is your next breed ther is a upcomiong litter in April or so
