Hey there all. I just adopted a miniature schnauzer puppy. I've never owned this breed before and was just wanting to chat with folks who are familiar with the breed. I've read books on them and what to expect but its not the same as sharing stories. Looking forward to chatting.
My family had two growing up! Frieda and Schnapps. I fought getting Frieda. I wanted a Lab or a big dog, and I tried not to like her for a while--I was just a bratty kid of about 8. She endeared herself to me and I fell in live with her pretty quick. They were both very sweet and highly intelligent. We had Frieda's ears cropped, as that was the style then. When Frieda passed after a very long and wonderful life, my parents got Schnapps. She, too, was very sweet and smart. My folks let her keep her floppy ears! They are quite vocal and never failed to let us know if something was going on outside!
Are you going to keep his ears floppy? Pictures? Boy or girl?
Have fun with your new pup! Savor the puppy breath--it doesn't last long enough!!
Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read!! Groucho Marx
No one has to sell me on schnauzers. We had 3---male, 2 females. We lost Max, our male in 07 and Mandy in 08. It was just about more than I could take to lose 2 a yr. apart. My husband bought me another little girl for Christmas. My doctor had bought one from this vet that shows schnauzers and recommended him highly. We brought Lexi home to Tina, my other schnauzer baby and Kayla, our little yorkie. She has really helped to put joy back in our home. Mandy and Max will never be forgotten. I was thinking about Mandy last night and started to cry. Lexi has helped the tears to be less and less but the ones you lose will always remain in your heart.
