I looked at your pictures, and the dog does not look anything like an APBT to me. I'm not sure why you think she has stopped growing, because I can see some legginess to her, which looks to me like she has still got some growing to do. What kind of aggression is she showing, and to who? Have you put her into obedience classes to help socialize her with other dogs, as well as to work on obedience? What is she like with other dogs? I'd be interested to know more about her. She has a very pretty face, and thankyou for rescuing her. I hope that you can get to the bottom of her behavioural issues.
She kind of has a hound type of body, her face could be a diluted down Mastiff, but she does look a little like a staffy head or Pitty, but the coloring does say Mastiff, one of the parents could have been a Mastiff cross. The aggression is fear, work on associating strangers with positive things, like food or attention.
When I look up into the sky, I think to myself, Wheres the ceiling?
She has not been to classes but we've taken her everywhere with us.She's around other dogs a lot.She loves to play with them but very quickly shows them she's the boss.My mom just got am american bulldog puppy a couple months ago.The first time he came over to play, nolie pinned him down by his throat after a few minutes of playing. She didn't bite or hurt him in any way so I'm sure that is normal behavior.I hate to admit it but her only aggression towards people have been black people.Because of this I've been trying to take her around my friend Shawn to try to get her over this strange fear but even with me by her side she continually growls and barks at him. She's very smart and learns quickly. She is great with our kids.
It is quite possible that she was abused before the shelter, and unfortunately someone may have abused her, and just happened to be African -American. Dogs have an amazing ability to remember and associate people with past abuse. I would put her in obedience and try and have your friend over, but just let her come to him, and when she does, have him give her a treat. If you persevere with it, she may come around. My dogs don't like police uniforms, and I have 1 stud, not of my breeding who goes ballistic if someone walks in with a black hoody and the hood up. I bought him at the age of 2, and he came from a family who had 3 boys. I think one of their friends probably teased him, or hurt him in some way, because he acts the worst if it's a teenager, wearing a black hoodie, with the hood up. Now most people who come here know not to come to the door wearing that. My dog, who's name is Diesel, will hit the door and just go nuts if he sees a face with a black hoody through the window in the door. With some work, I'm sure your dog will come around. The other thing I wanted to mention is that APBT's are usually big sappy idiots with their family and other people. If they are going to be aggressive it's usually towards another animal. I honestly can't see, by the build of this pup, any sign of APBT, and by the way, if I did think so, that would not lead me to the conclusion that your dog has aggressive tendencies because of it.
