Anyone know how to stop a male cat (12 yrs old)and fixed for many years, stopping him from spraying everywhere in my house? I do mean everywhere,my walls, furniture etc...He was fixed at 2 yrs age, thats when I found him,or rather he found me.
Did he just start doing this recently? If so, has anything changed in the house that is making him feel he needs to mark his territory? Did you get another pet? Anyone new living in the house? Did you move his litterbox or anything that belongs to him? Changed his litter braad? Are there new cats outside his window getting him all worked up? Look for anything that may be stressing him out. And have you taken him to the vet to rule out any medical problem? Usually spraying vertically like on a wall or furniture is marking which is behavioral. But if he's just peeing in odd places, that could be a UTI. Try cleaning the areas with a good cleaner like Nature's Miracle to remove the smell. I have never used a Feliway difuser myself, but it may help. It contains pheramones that are supposed to help stop bad behavior.
