Within the last 48 hours UK news has once again been filled with reports of a Staffie killing a baby. What the news is failing to report is the grandmother whos staffie it was bought to "protect her from a peeping tom also that the jack russel seemed to have only a small part. Personally I have had both staffies and jacks the more visious of the 2 breeds is the jack russel its also sickening that the press blames the dog and putting very little on the owner. I love My staffie jade and I know that there is no way she would attack a child and every staffie I have met that have been a true family pet have if anything been overprotective of children within their famillys. I thought I would post this here for feedback from others
I agree with you, I hate all the bad press that the bully breeds get. I wish they would get the other side also. Why did the staffie attack. Did the 2 dogs get into a spat, and the baby got in the middle? Who knows, they don't tell us that. The problem is the larger dog has a bigger mouth, and one bite can be fatal. The smaller dogs have to bite so much to kill somone. That should be looked at, not the fact that something just happened
The real stories don't sell papers. A loving, family pet killing aa poor, defensless baby is more interesting. Expecially if it involves one of the most hated breeds out there. Forget the breed, almost all of these stories involve dumb and careless parents and/or irresponsible dog owners. They leave their babies on the bed, sofe or swing and then go off while the dog is loose in the house. If you're not right there watcing, the dog and baby should be separated.
Personally, I don't think that there is such a thing as a bad dog, only bad owners. If a dog is agressive, IMO, it learned that behavior. I do understand that some dogs are agressive due to some inherited trait (see other topice on Goldenoodle), but for the most part, someone had to teach the dog to behave that way. I did some research on breeds that bite the most. Doxy's were top of the list. Second was Chiuauas. Ok, I can't spell, sue me.
Anyway, the reason that there are so many "Pit Bull Attacks" reported each year is that there is a stigma (undeserved) attached to the breed and, unless you are educated on the breed, most people can't tell the difference between an AST and a lab/boxer mix, ect.
What gets me is they make our big breeds that are supossed to be mean look mean with all the junk they put in the papers but if you take and actually look any dog can be mean even your cute furry dogs but you never hear about them being mean to people do we. It just makes me sick how they do our big breeds like pits, rotts, chows, shepards, boxers, staffies, ect but u never hear about the poodle or the jacks, cockers,or the chiwawa.
Not all the bully breeds are mean.Dont let them band our babys,They are lovable family members.
Although it would not be funny can you imagine what people would think if it was say toy jack russel kills child it would be taken as a joke so even if the evidance came back the jack russel was the killer the press wont take it on board because it would lower their supposed credibility after all the press is mainly about selling papers and propagander since I first posted this message people have been getting victimised for possesing staffies in the UK including bricks thrown at people walking their beloved pet. The press also is covering over the grandmother got the staffie to protect from a peeping tom sounds to Me like she purchased an attack trained dog either that or the stupid woman gave it dolls to tear appart and the dolls would make any dog think that a baby was a toy and male staffies are notorius for keeping the puppy dog playfullness right to 14 years old so what would a dog left alone with a baby who had the dolls for toys think ooooooooooo another toy
