My 8 month old English Bull Terrier seems to go thru so many toys lately. The plush ones with the squeakers in it, he loves..but they last for about a day..then i throw them away, before he ingests any of the filling, or the squeaker. Does anyone else have a dog that goes thru so many toys? Are there any toys out there that you could suggest that might last longer than a day? (he has also eaten tennis balls) Thanks in advance for the suggestions:) Renee
My aussies have shredded stuffed toys, tennis balls, etc. I have found nylabones, kongs, and tuffie (name brand) toys to be great. They however probably don't have the mouth power that your guy does. Try some and go from there
I had a canis panther and a pitbull. They both could go thru the toys. I bought a couple of the tuffy toys and they were great. They really are tough. Even these two playing tug-of-war couldn't rip them apart. They are kind of pricey though. A friend of mine has pits also and they would put peanut butter in a kong and then freeze it. It lasted a little longer for his pits when playing. I never tried it with mine though. Good luck.
Gage, my mastiff/rotty mix, loves to destroy toys, tuffy brand last about half a day longer than the 3 dollar walmart toys so I stopped buying them too. The only things that have lasted are the Skineeez toys. They are stuffed toys, with no stuffing, they look like road kill . He kills the squeakers withing a few hours, but his first one he got for Christmas, and it still has no holes in it, he loves them though.
The only other thing he will play with and not kill is the Cuz and Ruffian toys, they are made by the same company. He will chew at the squeakers first and I have to take the parts of them out, but he will still play with them afterwards as well.
Max is the most destructable dog around. I have found like the others the best toys are Nylabones, Kongs, and the toys made from tire material. I also found the best line of toys are the ones sold at Moochie and Co. I don't remember the name brand, but the toys are minty rubber. Max hasn't been able to destroy them yet. As an added bonus, they smell minty when he is chewing on them. We have not been able to buy him any stuffed type toys because he will destroy them. The minty rubber toys sold at Moochie, have nice chew factor ratings. I will not buy anything less than the 5. Good luck!
I have two Bullmastiff pups a little over a year old and I haven't been able to find anything they can't chew up within a day. The black Kong didn't last two hours and it had chunks bitten out.No stuffed toys since they were 4 months old. I buy them huge knuckle bones and they last 3 to 5 days. I don't use Nylabone as my vet says he thinks they cause excessive wear of the teeth.I bought the largest braided rope toy I could find and it took them less than half an hour to rip it apart. Unless I can find something for them to safely chew on these two will never be left unatended and out of their crates! In 35 years of owning Bullmastiffs and Mastiffs I have never had such agressive chewers before. One of them even ripped up a heavy fleece pad for her crate in less than 15 minutes.
I'm with Ruffian, Cuz has a line of toys that my Bostons, and my friends Boxers havn't been able to anihilate in less than an hour. I've also found a really good toy called a Schumtug...also great for both breeds.
JW pet products has a line of toys that are great. Including the Cuz the Holee Roller and Ruffians. There is a toy that is made in Quebec called a Shum-tug and my guys have tried but are not able to tear this thing apart.. They went through a Skineez in about five minutes. I test toys for our store and if my two Boxers can't tear them apart then I consider them pretty tuff. The Shum-tug is a big hit with my boxers they love it and have had one now for about four months and it is still alive.
I have tried the Boomerball and some of the dogs like it but it is best used outside in good weather on turf. I would like some toys that will keep the pups entertained indoors and wouldn't be as noisy as a Boomerball would be on hardwood floors. I have placed an order for a couple of the other toys reccomended and will let everyone know the results. We spent over $100,000 remodeling our home and I don't want these "chewing machines" to destroy everything.I know supervise, supervise, supervise but I have five dogs and four cats in the house and there is only one of me.
I ordered three Tuffy rings for the dogs. I bought the largest size and on the hanging tag it says it is the "WORLD'S MOST DURABLE SOFT DOG TOY" what a joke. The Bullmastiff pup Ruby had a chunk torn out in less than 5 minutes and had the squeeker in her mouth. My husband removed the rest of the ring while I got the sqeeker packet out of her mouth. Good thing we were right there watching her or we might of needed a trip to the vet for emergency surgery. When I called VIP Products about what happened I was told this is an interactive toy and the owner should only use this toy for playing fetch. Well what happens if the dog takes a detour while fetching and tears the ring apart before the owner can get there? Can't say as I would recommend this toy to anyone owning a breed that has strong jaw power. Will continue my search for a truely durable soft dog toy and will post my findings here.
I have a indestructible toy for you. It is called the "Hurley". It is made of Zogoflex. A company called West Paw makes it. They are available in two sizes and in various colors.
I bought mine at a pet specialty store in my town. This toy is guaranteed to last forever. They promise that IF your dog CAN destroy this chew bone, they will replace it for FREE! No joke, no lie...I have a rottweiler lab mix that chews and chews and chews on it. She has not been able to destroy it and she has had it for almost three years now!
I copied and pasted the site I found online. Enjoy!

"I can't believe how durable this toy is! My 2 dogs have gone through tons of toys before--but the Hurley lasts and lasts!"--Marilynn D., Kalispell, MT
Hurley It bounces, it flies, it floats, and best of all, it lasts! Hurley is three indestructible dog toys in one: a bone, a stick, and a ball!
Made of Zogoflex A new material so durable, it is guaranteed against "dog damage." If your dog is able to chew this toy up, West Paw will send you a replacement!
It Passes the Toughest Tests We have sold lots of these in the store to pet owners who have never had a toy their dog couldn't destroy...until they try the Hurley. Even the tenacious chewers that can go through a Kong don't even put a dent in the Hurley...it's that tough!
Available in Small (6") and Large (8 1/4") in three colors (Tangerine, Green Apple, and Aqua Blue). Made in USA.
Looking for an indestructible dog ball? Look no further than the new Huck by West Paw Design!
That's It!!! That is the one I purchased at Moochie and Company at my local mall. It is awesome. My lab mix is the most destrctive dog I have met. He has had his ball for about 1 year. (mind you all his other toys are replaced oh about every other day) ha ha..They have balls and bone shaped toys. The best!!
Well I bought two of the black large size rings from gonuts and none of the dogs like them. These things will surely last forever as the dogs don't like the strong odor they emit, can't say as I like smelling them either. They really stink up a room.
