My mother has a Schnauzer mix, does that count? We got Dudley when I was in middle school and he's still kickin, but has his off days. He is terrier, through and through. Tenacious, stubborn, can hold a grudge like nobodies business and a total riot. He is named after actor Dudley Moore b/c they have the same haircolor, LOL. His arch nemesis is the mailman and he will go nuts at the sight of any white vehicle. Because of Dudley, I have a real soft spot for broken/rough coated terriers in general. I will definately adopt a terrier mix someday.
I grew up with schnauzers! I remember sitting in the den watching TV, and all of a sudden Frieda had a puppy! Just one! I was about 10 years old and it was so exciting. We did not know she was pregnant and now she had this little pup. Oh was he cute and loved and spoiled by my brother and me. I don't remember if my folks had her spayed after that or not, but she never had any more puppies. We did get a kitten later, Cousin Stanley, and Frieda took him on as her own. She allowed him to nurse and even started making milk. This went on for a long time, until Stanley was nearly full grown. I remember my mom asking the vet what to do and he had her pint Frieda's nipples with a noxious substance to try to break the habit. Those two remained the bestest of friends till death did they part.
Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read!! Groucho Marx
My family love love loves the Mini Schnauzer! They are wonderful and they do not shed. My westie plays with them wonderfully and they are so sweet to their people..although protective and snippy somtimes with strangers. They are so smart and lots of fun!
My Mini, Samson is now around 5 months old and he is awesome. I can't believe sometimes how smart he is. I can teach him a trick and he'll know it in less than 15 minutes. Its crazy. I'd heard they were smart but wow. I have a 4 month old baby too and he is so sweet with him. Super gentle and knows when to calm down around the baby. He really is great. I've heard they have a tendancy to be barkers but with the work we've done with him he rarely barks.
