I BRED MY ENGLISH BULLDOG IN JAN. IF IT HAD TAKEN SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN SCHEDULED FOR HER C-SECTION ON MARCH 9 (10 DAYS FROM NOW). SHE STARTED GETTING BIGGER AND WE WERE CONVINCED SHE WAS PREGNANT. HAD THE ULTRA SOUND DONE ON DAY 27 AND WAS TOLD THAT IT IS A FALSE PREGNANCY - NO PUPS. SHE REALLY HASN'T GOTTEN ANY BIGGER, NOT LIKE THE LAST TIME SHE HAD A LITTER, BUT IS STILL LARGER THAN BEFORE THE BREEDING AND ALSO HER VULVA IS STILL SWOLLEN, TODAY SHE STARTED TO HAVE A STRINGY , CLEAR DISCHARGE THAT RESEMBLES A MUCUS PLUG, IS THIS NORMAL FOR A FALSE PREGNANCY OR HAS ANYONE EVER HAD A FALSE NEGATIVE ON AN ULTRASOUND AND ACTUALLY HAVE A DOG HAVE A PUP HIDING IN THERE.
I've had a few false pregnancies with my dogs over the years, but a simple blood test should clear up this question for you. Many bitches in a state of false pregnancy produce milk, and will actually go into labor. I would take her to the vet, have another examination done,(the vet should be able to palpate the pup, or pups) and get the blood test. An x ray would also tell you something as well. Good luck with her, and smoosh her cheeks for me.
