Hi I have a 2 1/2 mo. old Bichon Frise. She has reddish stains under her eyes. I was wondering if anyone out there has any tips on how to get rid of these. She's as cute as can be but most of the time the stains are all you see. Can any one help me keep my puppy look like she's supposed to?
Just keep in mind that Angel Eyes contains an antibiotic. I used it and stopped because I found out it contained an antibiotic. Tear stains could be caused by a number of things. You should first talk to your vet and rule out a health problem, like blocked tear ducts. It could also be a food allergy. My dog's tear stains cleared up when I started feeding Canine Life, which is a pre-mix to which I add meat, veggies, fruit, eggs, oil and bake into muffins. I feed raw now and her tear stains have returned. So who knows. I know they were really bad when she ate kibble. Try giving her distilled water. You could also try a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in her water too. Moreover, you should clean the area with a warm wet cloth every day to get the excess gunk and prevent infection. I usually try to cut the hair so that it doesn't 'look' so bad and the hairs don't get into her eyes. The red could also be a yeast-type of infection. There are alot of products out there that claim to get rid of them. The topical ones are useless so don't bother spending money on them. If you want to try Angel eyes, go for it, it's worked for many.
In order to really enjoy a dog, one doesn't merely try to train him to be semi human. The point of it is to open oneself to the possibility of becoming partly a dog. ~Edward Hoagland
We used ANGELS GLOW--not angel eyes but similar product. I've since had people tell me the angel eyes didnt work as well for them. Your pup is still young so he/she may be teething and it very well could be something he/she outgrows. Baxter's have gotten much better though he still has some. I stopped using it just because with 2 of them on it it was like I was constantly buying it, and going through huge amounts of peanut butter--with all 6 dogs wanting some peanut butter daily! --Mine wouldnt eat it without it being mixed with PB. Good luck
