I am a 25 yr old married with 4 children.I was raised in the show life with English Bulldogs. We have a 5 yr old Boxer and I have always wanted a small dog.About 2 years ago we bought a Boston Terrier.Once she turned a year old she became very aggressive with my children and other animals.Unfortunately I did not feel safe placing her in another home.he was humanly euthenized.I cried for months but now I am ready to try again and my husband and I have picked out a minature Yorkie pup.I have read all I can but I would like to speak to someone who has one first hand.Is this dog what I am looking for?A companion that will be good for my kids and other animals?
How old are your children? It really makes me sad that you purchased a Boston, the dog became aggressive and you had her put to sleep. I would definitely not buy a small dog like a Yorkie. especially if you have young children.
Assuming you have 4 children, all under the age of 6, I would urge you NOT to get ANY kind of puppy, much less a tiny, toy breed. Please wait for the kids to be older and more responsible for their actions.
Yorkies are not great with small childern, and can be snippy. They are also very hard to housebreak. I do a couple as clients, that were never really house broken. the people gave up and use wee wee pads.
You sound like you are used to the gentle giants, and I would advise staying away from any of the toy terriers. It is unusal for bostons to have that kind of temerment. You might find with small childern another small toy breed will do the same. I would wait til your children are older.
