"ECONOMIC RELIEF for Dog Breeders. $5.00 Breeding Stock Registration. No-Fee litter applications. 1-800-952-3376; www.ckcusa.com "
It saves them money and allows them to make the biggest profit. I also believe they were taken to court over the use of the acronym "CKC" because it belongs to the Canadian Kennel Club. Yet there they are continuing to use underhanded tactics.
APRI has always used a similar method to encourge people to use their registry... they'll take an AKC registered dog and "duel register" it with APRI for free... Litter regs are a lot cheaper too... And they used to say (not sure if they still do) on their site that they will register an AKC Limited registered dog with them for breeding because most AKC breeders are sneaky and underhanded and don't tell people they are selling you a dog you can't breed... (that is paraphased BTW)
They could just say "We like Puppymills and BYB's - please lie to an AKC breeder and steal a dog from them at pet price and come to us and be sneaky and underhanded and register puppies with APRI!". Seems kind of hypocritical to me... but what do I know...
