We just got a Cavalier and she is 5 months old. She mastered the gate for the first time today and spent the day roaming the house. Earlier last week she managed to knock the gate over due to poor reinforcment on our end. But today the gate was left standing and she greeted me from the other side when i got home.
Is there any way to render the situation?
Do we just need a taller gate?
Are Cavalier typically jumpers? I hadn't come across anything that indicated that in my research prior to buying her.
Is crating the only alternative if this continues?
She didn't have any accidents in the house today (that i have found yet), but letting her roam free isn't really a viable option for us yet, as we don't trust she is completely potty trained.
I would do an excersize pen if she is left for long periods of time. You will have to anchor it to something or she can move it. you can purchase a top so she can't jump it. Otherwise a crate is the only option.
