I have 2 week old puppies. Their mother has pulled away from them. I am afraid that they are not getting fed enough. Will it hurt to try them on some soft puppy food? Their eyes are open and they are starting to walk around.
Oh I agree Just Born puppy formula is good stuff...Yes you can supplement with the formula right now but I agree puppy food is to much for their little system's to handle right now..I have a 4 week old baby on the formula and she loves it, but I am mixing it with alittle puppy mash to and she is eating like a big girl..You r female should still nurse them tho they need her ..Mine unfortunitly can't have her mom. But she is doing great...Hope your babies do wonderful good luck
Always trust your dogs instinct about ppl it is always right..
I would get her the puppy formula set up. You can get it an any feed store or pet supply store. When you see that the teeth are well one their way to being in, then you can begin introducing the "Puppy Mash." I would still recommend trying all you can to ge the mom to let the puppy nurse. I don't begin to start the mash until 3 weeks, at the earliest. If in doubt, call your vet.
If people had emotions as pure as animals, our hearts would have to tripple in size.
And old folks like me will tell you to use evaporated milk, NOT SWEETENED CONDENSED, mix in 1 can of water, an egg yolk and 1 teaspoon of Karo syrup as your formula and weaning milk. This works as good and it's much more cost effective. You can also use rice cereal the dry stuff in the baby food section, and use that as first solid food. Usually you can teach them to lap it up from a pan at 3 weeks, but if they're hungry and smart, they may figure it out sooner.
