I've had this beautiful 9 week old Dobergirl for 2 nights now and neither my husband nor I have slept. She hates her crate during the night. Seems to not mind it during the day but at night she howls and whines all night. What am I doing wrong? I want her to be happy which she seems to be during the day, but at night it is horrid! Any advise?
First: she is lonesome for her siblings and her mama.
Second: They are velcro dogs. They have to be with their family. When they get older they are a constant shadow and most the time have to be touching ya if laying down unless they want alone time.
Try putting the crate right next to your bed. If that don't work then put it as far away from ya as possible. That way won't bother ya so much. Sometimes right next to ya works and sometimes not.
I am going thru the same thing cept I got two of em. If one isn't howling the other is. But they have started to settle down. Mostly, do it now when they see us or hear us. That's the velcro in them though.
I am thinking of moving their crate to an isolated cool dark area so that when my hubby leaves or comes home from work he won't wake em up... Otherwise they are great except when they miss their family. I haven't had em for a week yet and they were 6 weeks old Tues.
