Gosh, I hope this doesn't sound stupid. I've heard, or wives tale perhaps, that dogs know like some people, when they are going to die or dying. I ask because our 10 year old American cocker Spaniel is acting weird this morning. It is pouring rain here, and when it rains I let him out and he does his business then comes back to the door to be let in. Today, I let him out, he will not come back in. He went to a private area, corner of the yard behind a bush and is just sitting there. He has been there for hours. I can't get him to come in, he rather stay there. For now, I'm leaving him sit there as I feel this is what he wants. Do dogs behave unusual like this when the dogs feels/knows it is there time? ;(
I read your post yesterday and wanted to reply, but didn't have time. How is your dog doing? It does sound like he's acting a little strange but without seeing a vet for some testing, it's pretty hard to tell if she's dying or not. I'd get her to the vet ASAP and have some tests done. Keep us posted. Hope it's nothing serious!
if this is the first that he has acted this way, i would scoop him up and take him to the vet! He could be getting sick with something, maybe nothing fatal, but just sick, i would definitly take him in. Once i had a dog, that was just fine, and the next morning, he was so sick, i thought he would die right infront of me, i took him in, he had swallowed a hand towel!! luckly it finally came up, and after he was rehydrated, he was back to his normal self! if i hadnt taken him, he may have died, luckly we figured out what it was, and in a day he was right back to normal!
