My dog had hip dysplasia in both hips (cha-ching) and had an osteotomy (spelling?) on each. That is when they saw the bone off the hip - My vet also financed both (nice!) The other surgery is more expensive and worth it on a yonger dog, a few thousand, to say the least. Jessie was 8 (I adoped her at 7) so the osteotomy was the only way to go. I think those two surgeries are the only options available.
