I had a lovely sweet loyal skye terrier for 13 years and when he was put to sleep I was certain I would never have another. However two years later my family bought me a skye puppy for a special birthday, as our house was never the same without him.
However they are nothing the same although Bennies behaviour is improving, have had problems with him with aggressiveness, dominance, growling and he has biten my partner, we have grown to love him and he is part of our family, unfortunately he is not very good with our relatives and does at times growl at my partner and our son, he is banned from visiting family (that we dont see very often) although he is fine with the family he knows who he visits regulaly, I dont know if this forum is very active but it would be nice to chat to others with Skyes to see how they overcome these problems which i know are characteristic of Skyes. Because the breed is rare and I have never seen another in my area, nor has my vet, it would be nice after many years of having a Skye to talk to someone who may have similar situation. My breeder has been excellent but I feel Im always bothering her with bad news wanting to know something, I love my Skye Terrier and wouldnt be without him. One regret we had with our previous skye was that he didnt mate and I would like this to happen in the future if possible. Does anyone know how to go about this or even if I should??????????
Thanks, I hope theres someone out there, havent found a fellow skye owner yet but clutching at straws!!!!
