is it normal for a nursing mom to have watery stools.. her pups are 3 1/2 weeks old and i have just recently noticed a couple with the same issue going on.. is it from her cleaning up after them? maybe because there is 11 of them it is to much for her.. also she doesn't want to nurse them because of the teeth coming in.. so i have been feeding them oatmeal and a little pup food mixed in a blender. Anyone have any ideas? should i take her to the vet or go get wormer stuff?
I would double check with your vet. I have not had that problem with any of my litters, after the first week. My moms also don't give up on feeding there pups at that young of an age. I have trouble with moms trying to nurse even after pups are weaned lol
11 pups is a large litter but the supplements should help.
They are almost 4 weeks old and you have not wormed them yet??? I always worm mom when the pups are 2 and 4 weeks old and they get what they need via her milk. Have you seen any worms in her poop? I am just wondering why you feel you need to go out and get a dewormer unless you have seen something. I believe I would check with the vet on this one.
Some may disagree but I have been raising puppies for many years and knock on my husbands head, I have only lost 1 puppy the entire time, and it wasn't from worming her. I have followed the same protocol with every litter and it has worked well...so far.
Don't worry about tomorrow; it has never happened before.
