Can any one out there help me with this one! Around ten days ago a tree got took down in are back yard! My ten year old son came running into the houes that there was baby birds in the tree! I went out there and out of the four two where ok! Well we took them in and the frist night i new one was very hurt and she did not make it. But we still have one and named her PJ. I went to the pet store and found the baby bird food and she is very well and is very happy! But she is now 11 day's old and is getting very strong every day! I know we can not keep her and she will be let go when she can make it bye her self. My big ? is when can she be let go? And how long should i feed her baby food? I read that they like other food's in there diet. It is a Woodpecker the kind with a red hair on the head and i have saw the Father and mother and there very big bird's! I did call every one i new that might take her but no luck there. So i am doing the best i can for this Woodpecker! And i wish i could keep her B/C she kind of looks at me like i am her Mother! So the sooner the better to get her off into the world. I just dont know alot about Birds! Any help would be just great! Thank You.
Suet dough melts at a higher temperature. To dull the sound produced by drumming, place padding behind the area where the bird is drumming. Nesting or roosting woodpecker problem. As long as a nest is not already established, existing holes should be plugged with wood putty. If the birds already have eggs or young, the holes can be sealed after the nestlings have fledged, usually by midsummer. The preventive measures outlined under General Woodpecker Deterrents, can then be followed to keep the woodpecker off your house.

Get one of those fertilizers that you hook to your hose and put some bleach, vinegar, ammonia, or something like that and spray the gutter with it. It should keep him away long enough for him to forget about it and move on. Or you could get a rubber snake or a fake owl to put up there.

I live in a condo with my dad and his wife, and lately we have been hearing somewhat of a drilling sound. We suspect it is a woodpecker. When I went down into the basement you can hear it so clearly but it is somewhat under the house/ on the side.
We have a fear that it will be able to get into the house.
