Hi. My pom is 10 months old. For the last 2 weeks she has been limping (holding up her right back leg) from time to time randomly. Sometimes she yelps when she jumps off the couch... or is plaing with our lab if it gets hit wierd. Same leg everytime. Does this mean she could need surgery at some point. I know that her breed can have these problems. but is she too young? and could it heal itself? Any suggestions would be great!
She could have really hurt herself somewhere, or your lab could have hurt her accidently. She could have a slipping petella, very common in small breeds. I would have a vet take a look at her. he will know better then we do.
I agree you need to take your dog to the vet. "Knee" luxating (slipped) patella's are common in small breeds. Yes surgery is required many times to fix the problem. Then again your lab may have injured your Pom somehow too. Please do not let your Pom continue to jump on and off furniture. It can cause more damage. Only a vet can tell you what is going on for certain.
