I have an 8 week old puppy, and when I wake him up in the am to do his business he will normally go both pee and poo.. I will then bring him in to feed. The problem is first making sure he eats, and second when I bring him out to potty after he does not seem to want to go poop. I am on vaction this week so it has not been a huge deal, but next week once I am back at work I won't have the time to stay outside like we have been doing just to try to get him to poop. I don't want to feed him too early because then it will be longer in between before he eats again..
Any suggestions? Should I feed him before bringing him out for his morning business? Should I put his food in his "cage" to make sure he is eating? As I can't sit with him every time to make sure he is.
Put him in the cage after he eats and take him out every 15 min until he goes, if he does not go poop place him back in his cage. It only took about 4 days for both of my shar-pei to learn this way. We also taught them each a verbal command. Now they go out and go potty and are back in the house at no time at all. They also hold it better when we go on walks, which is great because I donít have to carry a bag full of poop. You have to be consistent though or it wonít work.
