Well, if you think she's pregnant, apparently you didn't do EVERYTHING to keep her from being pregnant. (spaying comes to mind, for example) Is it dangerous? Of course it is-she's not even full-grown. Take her to your vet immediately.
hey wait, riley, i have a 6 month old female Boston and my Bully is 11 years old...what do you think about that? Maybe I could make some English Bostons...NOT!!! (Although the first BT was the result of an English White Terrier and an English Bulldog ) but come on, Rocky (Bully) weighs like 65 pounds and Lola weighs all of about 10 pounds.
People just don't understand that just because you have a female and a male doesn't mean you put the 2 together when the 'season' is right.
By the way OP, you never stated what breed of dog possibly bred this angel. Could it be another Shih Tzu? An Alaskan Husky? Or perhaps a Tennessee Walker for all I know these days.
Friends will step in when the rest of the world steps out.
Very actually. ANY time we breed our girls it's dangerous and we risk their life. Before they are old enough you run a much higher risk of c-section (or death) and a vet that is experienced in pregnancy, whelp, and c-sections (and preferably our breed specifically) is always best. They aren't all equal. Further, your risk of death from eclampsia (or seizures or other things) at any point is MUCH higher. The pups are taking everything HER young body needs and is ALSO trying to use. There are other complication's as well. Spay please. You will be doing her a service and very possibly saving her life. I'm also curious what type of dog you think bred her?
I agree with the others, what do you consider EVERYTHING? I know accidents can happen if you have both male and female in the house that are part of your breeding kennel, but not if this was an "accident" with an unknown male.
You do need to take this baby to the vet ASAP for a full exam. He can best advise you what to do from here.
Hello! I raise Shih Tzus in my home. If you are sure you did everything to keep her away from a male, than she may be having a false pregancy. Sometimes there breasts swell, and she will even try to build a nest. I have experienced this first hand.
Its cruel to have your shih tzu dpayed! Whats wrong if she is pregnant? All you need to do is take EXTRA care of her. Give her vitamins for her pregnancy. Spaying her is like your having an abortion. My shih tzu gave birth when she was 10 months old her babies were super healty because we take all the vitamins and a lot of caring for her! She is now turning 2 yrs old and it's her third time to have her babies. Still she's healty and fine. Dogs have there cycle it's their sign that they can be pregnant so what is wrong with that? Spaying is not the answer! Just take extra care and check ups with the vet and your shih tzu will be fine.
