Any advice on how to get our new 2+ yr old scottie to potty outside would be very welcome. Our dog was added to our household 1 week ago. He was rescued from a puppy mill where he spent approx. 1 1/2 yrs then stayed at the scottie rescue shelter for 10 months. I understand that our home is his first real home and his first with constant human contact. His bed and food is kept in our lrg laundry room that is across the hall from our room. He is very comfortable with this arrangement. Our problem is that I can't get him to use the bathroom outside. He hikes his leg to anything 2" and higher. I may sit outside with him for an hour knowing full well he was in the process of hiking his leg when I picked him up to rush him outside. I also have to pick him up to move him from one spot to another because he becomes stubborn when the leash goes on and refuses to move. He is still very standoffish most of the time when inside but does know we like him very much and he like us too. He has taken a bit more to me than my husband but they say that is normal. There is much more I could say to describe his personality and history that may help in assessing the situation but hopefully someone out there has had a similar issue. Thank you in advance for any advice on this problem.
