I have a 3 year old female pug that is preg.. her due date is not till the 31st of july. but she has been acting weird she has had milk since last thursday the 16th of july and her temp last night was 100.5 and this morning july 21st her temp is 99.00 so is the days getting closer than what I expected.. thanks
Has she been getting check ups by the vet? Toy breeds are known for going earlier, but generally 5 days is the earliest any dog can safely go and have the pups survive. I have heard of some as early as 6 days make it with alot of work.
Milk production usually happens within the week of the whelp. have her checked by your vet as well as an xray to check number and development stage of the pups to see if they are close to being formed enough to whelp.
Also Pugs require their owners to be there for deliveries. Due to their flat faces, they can generally not open the sacs on thier own and you will need to do that for them, along with helping out with other aspects of it.
They are also known for c-sections as well, so you will need to keep close watch on her and know when she seems to be having any trouble. Pugs are one of the harder toy breeds to raise.
yes, I'm watching her closely I was just wondering about it. her due date isn't til the 31st but you are prob. right thats only 17 days aways. I look for her to have them this week. she has had milk this weds will be 7 days since she has had milk.. Her whelping box is ready and time will tell.. her temp at 630 this evening was 99.9 it's dropping slowly day by day. thanks for replying.
She will probably have them in the next 24-48 hours. did you temp go back up later in the day, or has it stayed down. If it is dropping, she will have the pups soon. My guess if she isn't due for another 11 days, then they will probably not survive. sorry to be truthful. If her temp isn't staying down, you are fine. Once the temp drops and stays below 99, she will have them.
Recount her due date. If she has them this early, they will be too premature to survive. I would get her to your vet to be checked, xrayed and see if he can delay labor until they developed enough to be born. In all honesty, I do not know that they have the means to delay labor as they do in woman, but getting her checked is very important right now if she is truly about to whelp this early.
she is still carrying. I can't belive it but I recounted her due date and it's the 31st of this month. but today she is lying around even more and her temp is 99.2 she is not eating and just walking a little bit and lying down when we go outside to potty she just walks around like she is lost.. so do you thing anyday now? thanks for all the replys. thanks again
Sometimes I will have a bulldog that stops eating days before labor, just because they feel full from a large number of pups. I give them nutri-cal to keep their calorie intake up. They will normally sleep alot right before labor begins.
i changed my picture in my setting, but I'm not for sure how to post a picture of you all to see.. could some one tell me how.. thanks and puppies are doing fine today mom got up and ate a little bit and has been out to potty. thanks for all the replys.
