I've got some samples of Chicken Soup (Dry formula) and before getting into them, I noticed that the "Senior" version ranked well on Wiley's list: http://www.terrificpets.com/forum/47352.asp(Great list, by the way!)
Has anyone here had experience with the other (adult, puppy) versions?
Thanks--it's good to get a few different opinions from you all :) Taking a look at some other reviews, most people say that it is one of the best combinations of high-quality ingredients + a good value.
On the recommendation of my vet when my dogs were sick, I have given my dogs various mixes - rice & cottage cheese, rice & chicken, and cottage cheese & white mashed potatoes. They all worked fine and got them through their illness.
When I weaned puppies, I included baby rice cereal in their mix graduating to cooked white rice in a more hearty raw mix prior to giving them puppy kibble.

Well, Vets also recommend Science Diet. Have you read the ingreats. on that? They usually start withe something like this: Corn, Chicken By-product Meal, Corn Gluten. And rice is not good for any dog. Rice is a simple Carb.i.e. rice not a complex Carb. i.e. potato. Simple Carbs. are quickly absorbed into the blood stream causing a spike in blood sugar, which can lead to diabetes or insulin resistance. Complex Carbs. are slowly absorbed into the blood stream and provide a steady source of energy. Honestly vets know nothing about canine nutrition. For Dachshunder.
