I have been fortunate to never have to have had this to deal with.
My sympathies to you and your furbaby though.

a lady i work with has had 3 dogs that have had mast cell tumors. since they were all bred by her its apparently in the line. from what i gather generally they are localized tumors that grow back usually in the same area once they've been removed. when removing them you need to take out a much larger area and have the margins analyzed by the lab to make sure everything was gotten. they seem to metastisize, or at least in her cases they did. depending on the stage there are a couple of different treatment options. thats about all i know.
