My 3 1/2 year old lab eats toilet paper right off the roll. She has been doing this ever since we got her at 6 months old. Of course, we initially kept all the bathroom doors closed, but that is getting old. I was hoping she would outgrow it by now. She knows it is wrong and only does it when no ones looking so very hard to discipline. I have also tried putting a pop can filled with rocks on the rolls. She leaves them along when the can is there. But when the can is removed she will go right back at it. Does anyone have a permanent solution?
It's not the dog, it's most dogs. I have 4 Jack Russells in the house, and not all are the same, but....toilet paper...lol...if they see it down in a spot that is reachable...look out...My only solution was to keep it on the cabinet behind the toilet, and out of their mouths. One of mine will actually try to rip it out of my hands if I'm holding it, she's also the one that will steal my underwear out of the dryer if the door is open, out of the hamper, if a sock drops on the floor, I'm chasing her cuz she's that quick.Even lifting the garbage can with her nose in the kitchen to see what she can find. They are most likely bored and want something to play with, you can correct them with telling them no, or keep it out of reach so they can't get to it. I'm surprised the dog didn't go after the can with rocks in it....my hubby makes a toy out of a coke bottle and rocks inserted in an old sock, once my momma jack sees that, she knows it's play time.
I have many times had a new roll hanging when the Min Pins run in jump for the end take off! Have unrolled many a rolls throughout the house.....I cant help but to laugh while I pick it up. Keeping my door closed took care of it thugh.
