Hi there, I have fallen in love with the look and attitude of the Norwich terrier and am looking for a small dog to take with me to work, camping, etc... I have read some of the horror stories about buying a pup from over the internet. There are no close breeder to where I live. Also, I don't know anything about medical concerns Norwiches may be predisposed to. Could anyone enlighten me. I would appreciate it. Also, what is considered a good price for pet quality vs show or breeder quality. thanks
My first suggestion is to look up the Norwich club. Goggle it, and you may find several. Look up AKC and see if they have a parent club listed. That would probably anwser alot of your questions about health. You could also find breeders on there. The next step would be to contact several breeders, Tell them you are not in the market for a puppy right now, you are still doing your research and want info on the breed. Most good breeders would just love to talk about the dogs no strings attached. If they are rushing to get you off the phone, scratch them off your list. You will find that different breeders will have different opinions about there breed. It is normal, take it all in.
Lastly I alway recommend talking a flight out to see the breeder if you can. I have been lucky and gotten really good or bad vibes when talking to someone on the phone. If you spend enough time with people, and really listen to what they are saying, they will slip up and let out some red flags. you just have to listen to what they say. write down your questions, or you will tend to forget them. Good luck
