how old are your boys? do the respect a dogs space, do you have time to train a very active breed like a pit bull? Those are the top questions. Research the breeder, don't just buy one off the street. You have to decide if it is a good idea for your lifestyle and the time you have to spend with the dog. They are extremly active, and will require alot of excersize.
It's never a good idea for a parent to get a dog solely for the kids. You are the parent and adult and this dog will ultimately be your responsibility. If that's not okay w/ you then dont' a get any dog.
I suggest you join a pit forum; there are several. That way you will get advice from several people experienced w/ this one breed. I'm curious to know who came up with a "pit bull" and why? If the answer is: your boys b/c they look tough or cool, then you don't need one. They are truly the sweetest dogs I've ever been around, but they are active, strong and require a lot of training/socialization. You have to be prepared for dog aggression, prey drive and being discriminatet against. Check w/ you home owners insurance and make sure there are no breed restrictions in you area/apartment/housing development.
