I have a 15 week old Mini Schnauzer/Maltese mix male. I take him out frequently (at least every hour) to the same spot in my back yard but he won't pee. I have him on leash to keep him from getting distracted but he just wants to chew on it. I tried an excercise pen but he figured out how to climb out of it. He also wants to eat EVERYTHING he finds outside (he ate a small rock @ 4am a few days ago & attempted to eat a slug last night). When I finally bring him back in, he pees on the carpet. Last night/early this morning, I saw him lift his leg on the side of my sofa! While I was cleaning it up, he pooped in a different area. So my question is...how do I keep him focused outside, to not eat things (bark, rocks, bugs, grass) and to pee, so he won't come right in to do it inside? Please help ~ anyone!
Try getting your grass wet, and take him on the leash. That might encourage him to go. There is also an item called the "pee post" sold at Petsmart/Petco that has a sent in it to encourage them to go in a certain spot. It works for some, but not everyone.
Don't forget to praise your puppy everytime he goes outside.
Animals, what animals? My children just have alot of hair!
