I finally got a 12 week old mini beagle. Yayyy! Last night was her first night away from her brothers. My problem is she eats, then she won't go outside- she justs shakes and wants me to hold her. But then I take her inside and she pees/poops. How can I get her to actually go outside?
And she walks sideways and she whines constantly, is that normal for a puppy?
First of all there is no such thing as a mini beagle. So I am sure you purchased a dog from a great breeder. I would take the puppy to the vet asap and have a wellness check done on it. Next, it is a puppy, it needs to learn. You can hold it 24/7, the dog needs to learn to walk and behave like a dog. Going to a new home can be stressfull, and you will find that some puppies will act a little weird for the first day or two.
My daughter has a mini beagle but they don't call them that. They are just beagles that are breed for being under 24 lbs.
The pup doesn't know what outside is. You need to make a game out of being outside like walking the dog. Not just standing there. Take her for a walk and let her nose play! This way she won't be so scared. I also strongly recommend contacting the breeder and asking questions.
Remember Beagles love treats, use them for potty breaks/training!
