hi my cat had her kittens on friday 2/10/09 they are now two days old and i have found fleas on them i know my cat cleans them off but ive spotted them in the basket where they are all sleeping. Is there any thing i can give the kittens or do they have to be a certain age before i can de-flea them. Also my cat has a flea collor on but because she is with the kittens does she need de-fleaing now again
flea collars dont work like they say they do. i would reframe from using them.
since they are so young im not sure about what you could do for the kittens, but you can flea treat the mother cat. this should kill of most of them and the rest is up to you, when you see them on the cats and on the beding you should kill them and when they get older you probably should remove them from that bedding and put them in some new bedding where they can be confertable.
Once you rid the mom of the fleas, the best way to get them off of the kittens is to bathe them in the most gentle kitten shampoo you can find (you can also use the regular blue Dawn soap). Do not use any of the medicated ones. A regular kitten shampoo will work, it will kill the fleas. Remember to always keep them warm through the whole process. After you bathe them, take a fine fea comb, and comb out the fleas and dip the comb in water frequently to take out the fleas on the comb.
Animals, what animals? My children just have alot of hair!
