I reallly need help. I have a family of 4 dogs, mom and dad (two years old)and brother and sister (one year old). Chihuahua/dachshound I have to get rid of two of them, because of city ordinance.
My problem is I LOVE THEM TO DEATH. and I don't want to separate them since they're too attached to each other. I think a should get rid of the babies since they're been with me for a shorter amount of time than their parents although they love me as much I love them (especially the girl) I don't know anybody to give them to, keep them together and love them as much as I do.
I don't want them to suffer and to be honest, I rather have them to put to sleep. Can I do that? I know it sounds horrible but that's how I feel.
I'M DESPERATE!!!!! Can anybody understand me? Am I crazy? I NEED HELP!!!!

Younger dogs and puppies have a better chance at being placed in new homes than older dogs, so I think your idea of re-homing the younger ones is a good idea.
Don't assume that the animals are "too attached" to each other to be able to adjust to a home without you or their siblings. Dogs (and people) can be very resilient.
I suggest contacting your local humane society and ask for help. You can also contact your vet's office and see if they have any ideas. The fact that there is a local ordinance limiting the number of animals indicates to me that there is probably support available for people in your situation -- so ask the office that is enforcing this rule for suggestions.
I won't address the "I'd rather put them down" comment.
Dogs young and old are rehomed on a regular basis. Get over it, and give those babies to someone wonderful. don't worry about them, they will do just fine. I think the idea of the younger ones being rehomed is a far better idea. They are also young enough to be seperated if needed. Remember, they are dogs no matter how much we love them (mine are my children), and don't have the same emotional attachment we do.
If you just look around and find a good family, someone out there will love them just as much as you do.
Post an ad in your newspaper. Chi-weenies are quickly becoming a designer dog and people want them. We just had one dropped off a week ago and I advertised and had about 20 people contact me. A couple people were willing to pay to have her shipped to them which is amazing considering she was a free rescue. Fortunatly, I found someone close to home to take her. A little word of mouth works wonders. Dogs are very resilient, just because YOU are going to be upset that they are leaving doesn't mean they will be!

Yeah, they want them allright. Until they notice the health problems that come from Chi's and the health problems that come from Dashunds. Put those together and you have lots of new problems. Why do you think someone dropped that one off near you? They only want them while they are cute and cuddly puppies and until something goes wrong. Then, they do the unthinkable and drop them out on the side of the road.
