hi, my dad breeds and raises english bulldogs. we have one 4 week old puppy that doesnt use its hind legs, they kinda hang off to the side and the puppy drags itself by its front legs. my parents have taken the pup to several different vets who have all came up with the same prognosis, and all have said to put the puppy down. they said the puppy wouldnt have a high quality of life, and it would forever have to be picked up to bring it outside to go to the bathroom, and it would need constant washing on its undercarriage to rid it of urine or fesces. i hate to think that this sweet little puppy is going to have to die because noone thinks it has a chance at life, when in my eyes it does. does anyone have any suggestions as to what can or cannot be done for this puppy?
Honestly, as long as the puppy can poo and pee on its own I would try to give it away to someone who would like a special puppy. They make "wheelchairs" for paralyzed dogs, so he could probably use one of those. I doubt you would be able to sell him, but there is probably someone out there who would be willing to love him. good luck
As for this pup, personally I agree that it should be put down, but that is IMO, now have you guys looked into the dog wheelchairs? They are pretty common, and quite expensive, but if someone was willing to pay for one perhaps just give them the pup.
