I had to email them. I just had to, this is only the second person I've come across that thought AKC registered unaltered mixed breeds.

No sorry, not true. For mixed breeds to have anything to do with AKC, from aglity to canine good citizen, they have to be neutered. Even if his parents are AKC registered, he can't be used for breeding under AKC rules.

Do you have a registration certificate from AKC that says he's AKC registered and his puppies can be AKC registered? Unless he's really a purebred, you won't.

Besides, why do you think your dog is breeding quality? What has he ever done besides strut sexily around the house?

I'd say you need to contact your breeder and AKC to become more educated.

I'm glad that you actually went to the website, but have you read it yet?

Read what you're agreeing to when registering your mixed breed dog, the terms and conditions specifically state:

I (we) certify that this dog has been spayed/neutered and that I (we) will submit written verification if requested by the American Kennel Club.

Therefore, your dog either isn't registered with the AKC or is falsly registered. Either way, there's no way his puppies can be registered like purebreds are, they too have to be fixed or their owners have to lie about it in order to participate within the AKC.
Someone can inform AKC that your dog is intact as well and have his AKC Canine Partners Certificate of Recognition papers revoked. Further, someone could possibly sue you for falsly advertising his puppies as being AKC registerable when only his fixed ones can get the certificate.

Mixed breeds are not treated the same as purebreds by the AKC, even if they come from AKC parents (which in the case of mixes, they don't have to have AKC parents since they must be neutered first). Email AKC and ask; there are no exceptions.

Besides, just because you have a dog that doesn't mean it should be bred, even if he were an AKC purebred.

Ok your information was not from the AKC site. I have looked it over many times to see if maybe i have missed something, news flash i haven't. Teddy is AKC registered he has his certificate and his tags. He is also registered in the breeding category. His puppies will also be AKC registered if the new owners register them online and receive there tags and such. I have emailed AKC and they have also let me know that Teddy can compete in any competition in the mixed breed category. So what ever you think you know is not right. maybe you should learn to read and accept defeat and walk away with some kind of dignity. I will also once again put the site at the bottom of the page so you can look at it and maybe try to understand the stuff being said.

I'm a little surprised they seriously believe AKC has a 'breeding category' for mutts. I give them the benefit of the doubt, maybe they really didn't notice the regulations.

And mixed breeds are limited to Obedience, Rally, Aligity and Canine Good Citizen. Though obivously if you did email a representative, you did not tell them your dog was intact. Had you, you would have been informed of your violation.

This is where they start getting personal.

I don't know if you think you work for AKC or if you are just upset because your mutts cant get in? So, I get a little personal too.

Funny, on that very page it says:

Why must both the sire and dam be American Kennel Club registered and of the same breed?
...
When two purebred dogs of different breeds are mated the resulting litter is considered a mixed breed litter and ineligible for AKC registration.

The litter requirements specifically say the sire and dam must be the same breed, the litter must be purebred to enroll online or otherwise.

So I know how your breeder got your dog in: by lying. Mixed breds can be individually enrolled AFTER being fixed. Otherwise, you're violating AKC rules.

And I am interested in your dog, and all the poorly bred puppies he could be producing until you rightly have him fixed. You could at least have your dog health tested if you so want to breed him. Checking his hips through the OFA is only around $100 (depending on your vet of course). Elbows are about the same, I'm not sure about eyes and ears exactly. I'm sure your vet can give you a quote.

Who was your dog's breeder? They probably didn't bother with health testing, since it was just a mixed litter, so who knows how healthy your boy is, he could have CHD or horrible eyes and be passing it on to every pup.

But I really think you need to stop lying to the AKC and everyone else who may one day want to breed to your dog. He's simply not allowed to be AKC registered til he's fixed. Anyone's mutt can get in as long as it's fixed, AKC doesn't care about the lineage of mixed bred dogs as long as they themselves are not bred.


And now the really horrifying reality, they start saying why their 'Teddy' is so worthy of being bred and where he came from.

WELL sorry to once again pop your bubble lady. There you once again miss understood the text. It said any two breeds of the same. WELL his parents were the same.So you are wrong once again. WE are not lying you are the one who dose not know how to comprehend things that are written. By the way teddy was purchased from a pet store who has there own line of breeders who make sure that there dogs are tested and healthy before they sell them. I am also a vet tech in training so i would know if there was anything wrong with my dog. So all the puppies that he will have will be very healthy and will surpass any other pure bred dog you throw at him. AS for your CHD its hip dysplasia he would not be able to walk right and have severe pain when he did. I for one would not have him being used as a studd if there was something wrong with him genetically. So stop trying to find things that you think are wrong with my dog. He is a perfectly happy pup who is more then ready to make some one happy with a new bichon-poo puppy. Oh god, you bought from a pet store! How horrible! WHY would you do that? Did you do NO research? Why didn't you go to a breeder, where you could at least see his mother and possibly father, and see how he was raised? Where you could make sure he and his parents were treated right and not, for example, from a puppy mill or broker. Do you even know who bred your puppy?
That you got him from a pet store is reason alone not to breed him.

I guess your responses are starting to make sense. It's funny that you think AKC cares that his parents were mutts too. They're not a breed, they're mutts. AKC would not register their puppies nor let them be registered unless they were fixed (or their owner lied to the AKC, like you are doing). I'm surprised you haven't realized this yet.

This would be a funny story if it wasn't so sad. I'm sorry, I thought I could give a helpful nudge on where you were going wrong, but you are beyond that. You need serious help. I don't mean to insult you, but you're way to ignorant on dog breeding, AKC and HD.
Please, for your dog and his future puppies sakes, do some more reasearch. Call some breeders up, go browse message boards (I'd recommend terrificpets.com to start, there's lots of breeders there), email AKC and ask for help.

I feel so sorry for your dog, his parents, and his possible puppies. Please go educate yourself.

WEll lady i am sorry to tell you that my dog is perfect and i really think that is eating you that my dogs capabilitys are more then that of your own dogs, ( which are probably mutts them selfs and cant even get a person to say how ugly are ) Teddy has won serveral things for his looks and his health. so you can shove your opionion and thoughts about him where the sun dont shine. We do have all the breeders information and have contacted her many times on getting another puppy from her. By the way to inform you a little more the store we bought him from was a very class and up scale place. they do not have there dogs from puppy mills and they have local breeders who they routinely check up on. So further more embarrass you and make you look even more arrogant you should be happy because once his puppies are born i will make sure to send you pictures and all the other things that your MUTTS have not received. I hope you have the phone close because i am about to give you the number to a psychiatrist so you can call him and tell him about your issues on life maybe he can educate you on AKC and BREEDING.

Yet a few minutes later she does send me her 'breeder info' which is a person with the same last name as herself and located in the same area. She also sends an invite to connect with her over Yahoo. From her picture, I'd say she's very young. Doing a search brought up a MyYearbook account with a matching picture and listing her age as 17.

Still, she should know better.

You can't make stupid people smart. Think she sort of misunderstood the whole Bichon and Poodle thing and believe that since they are both dogs, they're the "same breed". I find it interesting that her language skills, much less spelling & grammar are sadly lacking, but she feels you need to return to school.
