Hi everyone :) Well my 7 month year old chihuahua was pretty sick today. She usually doesn't go potty in my room, but she woke up at 4am today and peed and pooped in my room. After, she started to throw up. At first, the throw up color was like poop and there was a fair amount of throw up. After, she started to throw up some clear sticky water. She was shaking a little. I tried giving her water but she wouldn't take any. As of now, she is sleeping and it has been around 2 hours. What should I do? Do i need to take her to the vet? or can I just make her relax at home? Let me know asap :)
well her throw up color was like her poop at first than it was only clear. After that, she wasn't fed for a day incase it made it worse. Now today, she ate very well in the morning and tonight but now, she's not going potty. She is fed twice a day. Yesterday night, she pooped in my room at 2am, which rarely happens. I'm worrying she might do that again tonight because she hasn't gone pottying the whole day today.
If there are anymore signs that something is wrong I think you should get this dog to a vet pronto. Actually maybe you should have taken him/her? today (Friday) as now you would have to wait until Monday to get into your vet unless you have an emergency clinic nearby (probably very expensive too). If something is wrong with one of my dogs, even if it appears to be minor, if Friday comes and they're not better then they go to the vet that day to avoid my chancing having a sick dog over the weekend and having to go to our local and VERY expensive (and incompetent in my opinion) emergency clinic. Small dogs go down quicker from dehydration than larger too.
Sounds like hypoglycemia, low blood sugar. Try 1/4 teaspoon of Karo syrup, o regular syrup if that's all you have. If the dog isn't better in 10 minutes, do a second dose...if not better go to the vet. This is common in small breeds and puppies especially when under stress.
