Hello! Please help! Any input would be appreciated! I have an 11 year old dog that is the perfect dog when I am the only one around. He has gotten quite aggressive to anyone else. Now I am in process of going through a divorce and moving. He is not dealing well with this change. I have been brining him to my new place a little at a time so he can get used to it. I also have his blankets and toys here for him to help him get more comfortable. This is not working. The combination of his aggressive behavior and his issues with the move have me just sick to my stomach. I am wondering if I even consider putting him to sleep. As much as it would devastate me, I do not want to see him miserable and suffering with the changes and then I have to end up putting him to sleep anyway. What is the right thing to do?
How many trainers, vets and behavioralist have to talked to? Depending on breed/size,he could live for several more years. This is why it's so important to train and socialize before there's a problem. I think a professional is the only one who can evaluate the dog and tell you whether euthanasia is the only option. I do give you credit for facing a hard decision, too many people simply dump dogs like this at the pound or with the first person who answers an ad.
