I thought I'd share this story of a very lucky basset named Samer.
Samer came from a puppy mill several weeks ago and was being transported to Calgary. In Helena MT he escaped and everyone has been looking for him ever since. Yesterday he was spotted at the train people so everyone who could swarmed over the area looking for him.
Samer was captured - but he'd been hit by a train! They rush Samer to a vet and we are all hoping for the best but fearing the worst. Then our T-Day miracle happened. The vet determined that the only real injuries to our boy was having to have his tail amputated and he lost the toes on one foot. No internal injuries or other broken bones!
He will recuperate in MT for a week or so and then continue his journey to Calgary where he will be given a hero's welcome.
We don't know how he survived the cold MT nights or the train - but I can guarentee the rest of his life will be spent with a loving family and he'll never be cold again.
