i have 6 dogs and for some reason this season they have become over runned with fleas and they are inside/outside dogs and i was wandering if there was anything to get rid of them at a reasonable price the vets frontline and advantage are outrageous and really cannot afford price at the time
I don't buy my Frontline at my vet either because they charge so much for it. I mostly order it online from Drs. Foster & Smith and sometimes if you check Amazon you can find it cheaper there too. You don't need a prescription to order it. Hope that helps.
Here is also another tip. If the dog's generally live together. You do not need to put it on every dog. Do only 3 of them. Fleas do not live on the dog, they jump on, eat, and then jump off. Keep the non treated dogs contained in one part of the house. let the other dogs go into the other part of the house during the day. do not let the non-treated dogs have free roam of the house. this will keep spreading fleas all over. The treated dogs will have fleas from the rest of the house feed on them and die. Then at night put all the dogs together. I do this...Also, I only use half a tube, and seems to work just as good. So...that cut your bill down by half...then half of that. also vacuum, vacuum, vacuum...empty the bag immediatly out side. The fleas can get out of the vacuum cleaner bag. It maybe a few weeks for the infestation to go away but it will.
I believe a dog's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment he holds dear, is when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle-with a ball in his mouth."
I would treat my dogs, and then bomb the house. Maybe even spray the yard. Even if you rid the dog of them, if they are still where the dog lives they will keep getting on the dog. There are a ton of more natural less expensive forms of flea treatment, but you have to be willing to do the work to keep them away and kill them all. Depending on where you live, it can be hard to give a dog a bath and then throw it outside for several hours while you bombed a house. Good luck, fleas are definatly a pain.
