Hello. My mom is a member here, she is OxfordBostons and she gave me permission to ask a question and get opinions. She was furious when she found out about the question but please don't get upset at me because these are not our dogs; I just want to know what will happen to this poor dog.
I went to a friends house to study and try to catch up on some of my school work. Since my cancer diagnoses, I have been really behind and she was going to help me. My friend, Trina, has Pomeranians (sp?). Her female is in heat now and she told me that one of her males had bred her. She is able to run all over the house, which is something I'm not used to as my mom always puts our females in heat in a pen to themselves. Anyway, I am used to breeding dogs but I noticed that about an hour later, the OTHER male was trying to get to her and low and behold, he bred her too!!! I was like "OH MY GOSH!"
Is that safe? What can happen to the female?
My mom suggested I start this on a topic here in case it ever happened to someone else, they could read about it. I was just shocked as I had never experienced that before.
Thanks for letting me post here and thanks to everyone for all thoughts and prayers you send me. Thanks to you, Carrie, for the card. It's on my wall
DogLuv, and welcome to TP, your mom is a wonderful and very knowledgeable person :)
To answer your question, unfortunately, yes it is safe to breed a female to multiple sires. Dogs are like cats, and have multiple eggs released, so there can be more than one father. Like your mom said (in another post) this is a perfect example why pet dogs should be spayed and neutered
Animals, what animals? My children just have alot of hair!
