Did anyone else hear this story reported on their local new? It was in all the majors here in the Tampa Bay area last night.
"NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. (Dec. 13) - Authorities say a Rottweiler attacked and killed a Florida toddler when the boy reached to pick up a cookie he had dropped.
Kevin Doll of the Pasco County Sheriff's Office says 20-month-old Dallas Walters was at his aunt's home during a party Saturday night. Doll says the dog attacked Dallas when the boy dropped a cookie and went to grab it.
Family members at the party managed to pry the dog off the child and then took him to a hospital. The boy later died."
Animal control has taken possession of the dog."
I always find these kind of stories heartbreaking and disturbing. Heartbreaking for the innocent loss of life and anguish that the family will endure for the loss. Disturbing for the certain outcry to come from PETA and HSUS types that want to use this example to further their cause to banish all "dangerous" breeds from existence.

Couldn't agree more NMbassetlover. This is why buying from a reputable breeder (who cares about temperment), training, socialization and using common sense are so important. If that had been done here, a baby would still be alive.
