hello i just got my pitbulls ears clipped an they did not wrap them or anthing just put stitches in them i was wonder how they gonna stand up an plus he is scratching at them making them bleed how i stop that an is there anything i can put on them so the heal right
I'd wonder that too...who did the crop? If a vet, then they should have covered all this at the time of the procedure. A pit crop is short and should not need taping to stand. As far as healing, you can put some Neosporin on the outer ear where the stitches are to help prevent infection and it will also reduce the itching that healing causes.
If none of this works, an E-collar might be in order so he wont be able to get to his ears and cause damage.
Anyway, I know here in the boonies, the vet don't give the ecollars unless you ask. So to the OP go to petmart or most pet stores, and get one. They are always worth having around. It is important he doesn't keep scratching at those ears, it could lead to rips and infections.
ok thx yall for the help ill have to get a e collar cause he is scratching at them badly they told me they didnt need to tape them an all i just wanted to make sure just in case cause i want them to stand up...
You can always use the method of most Dobe breeders with backer rod and porous cloth tape. Backer rod is a foam product that is sold at home depot in the concrete section, they will know what you are asking for,,,,if they don't, ask them to ask other employees until someone knows what it is... go to the website thedobermanspages.com and there is a page on how to tape ears....just size it down for that pit bull military crop! PM me if you need more help.
