Hey there, i'm shopping around for a mini english bulldog pup and I was wondering when is the perfect age to adopt him? I found a breeder but the pup is about 10-11 weeks old. I want the puppy as young as possible, is that too old to adopt a puppy?
There is no such thing as a mini bulldog, they are mutts, usually bulldog pug crosses, or bulldog boston terrier crosses, sometimes they are boston terrierpug crosses, having no bulldog in them at all, mutts.
There is no such thing as a mini-english-bulldog. Bulldogs are wonderful dogs, but research your breeder carefully and make sure that they will be there for you when you need them, as health problems can pop up later on.
Google Dr. Ian Dunbar's Puppy Socialization chart, and reconsider at what age you will take a pup. Puppies of any breed need their litter/dam to build their pwn personalities and confidence, so getting a pup at 10-12 weeks is optimal.
Please research and don't make a decision that you will regret later on. Good luck! =)
I have to agree with everyone else. No such thing as a mini english bulldog. I would be very weary of anyone telling you different. Someone may have small bulldogs, or do crosses. Either way be very care of purchasing those dogs. English bulldogs have many different health problems, and I would suggest you read up about them before purchasing from any breeders.
10-12 wks is fine time to aquire your new baby, and as long as you get a good 2yr or more health guarantee, you should be fine.
There are alot of un-reputable breeders out there just trying to make a fast buck on a puppy. Beware of those trying to sell something that does not exist.
Getting a pup as "young as possible" will lead to housebreaking issues, poor socialization and a lack of bite inhibition. In a smaller puppy, hypoglycemia can also be an issue. IMO, getting a puppy as young as possible is one of the worst things you can do.
