I have a male Hawkhead Parrot by the name of Bradley. He is about a year old and has always been very sensetive. I know he is not sick, as he acts perfectly normal and is very healthy looking. He is just constantly trying to pull his own feathers out. I've tried scolding him when he does it, but he will continue doing it until I physically intervine and either take him out or give him a nut. Is it possible that I'm rewarding his poor behavior? I am not talking about regular molting here, I know what that looks like. Trust me, his normal molting is much less severe that this. A few bald spots during molting are normal for Bradley, but he has pretty much plucked himself bald! His entire chest is bald. He is getting very good nutrition from a fortified pellet formula, fruits, vegetables, and nuts. The only seeds he gets are sunflower seeds as treats. His skin looks great and he molts on a regular basis. He is just grooming himself bald. He has always been on a very good diet, but has done this since I've had him. I don't know if he might be stressed over something. He gets a lot of attention and is always out of his cage and on my shoulder. He has lots of fun toys in his cage, too!
