I have a corgi mix that is just over a year old. His nose used to be a very dark brown almost black. Over the last couple of weeks I noticed it is getting lighter. It is almost pinkish now in the center. Is it normal for a dog's nose to change color, or do I need to get him in to the vet? What could be causing the color change?
Many dogs have noses that lighten at certain times of the year and it is not a health issue.
Would need to see apic for sure to tell if its just a fading pigmentation or an actual area of damage, etc. If they get an injury, scratch, burn, etc the nose will alot of times grow back pink in that spot.
My mother jokingly told me he probably stuck it somewhere he shouldn't have. I will try to get a picture tomorrow though I can't imagine he will cooperate too well with that. There haven't been any noticeable scratches or anything to his nose recently. He managed to get his tongue stuck to a door frame this winter since he decided to lick it when it was -25 outside. It's good to know that it could just be a seasonal thing. Thanks!
