Our 3 yr old TFT recently started wanting to attack produce brought into the house. She can smell it if on a counter or table. She will jump continuously so we have to put it away without her seeing where we put it. Now we hide all our produce. She has done this with watermelon, pumpkin, bananas, avocados, etc. Not all produce however. If she does get it on the floor, she will attack with teeth and paws. She never did this before. Any one else experience this or have suggestions?
Maybe she just loves veggies and fruit. Just keep it out of her reach when you don't want her to have it. Same as you'd keep t-bones (or trashed chicken bones) out of her reach. Some things are just irrestible, and all you can do is manage (rather than eradicate) the behavior.
However, if she's attacking others to get what she wants, that's another thing altogether. Is she aggressive towards you if you're holding produce? (Does she want it so bad she's willing to do whatever she has to to get it?)
