My dog has (for the last 5-6 months) developed a rash on her belly. I took her to the vet who said she felt it was a food allergy (as Bella had an ear infection about 3 weeks earlier) and she suggested I change her diet to one with less 'common' meats. I changed her to one with venison (Natural Choice Venison Meal) but the rash seems worse. Now it has only been about 5 weeks on the new food, but shouldn't I be seeing some type of improvement and not a rash that is worse?
If I'm jumping the gun and should wait a few more weeks before trying a different food let me know. If not, does anyone have any other hypoallergenic food options before I try the prescription hypoallergenic food at the vets?
You need to read the actual ingrediants. Most commercial foods have meal or by-product in them. So even though they say lamb, they could still have chicken in them. Also you should stay away from food with alot of grains, corn, wheat gluten, etc.
Consider a duck and potato food, like mentioned a non-grain such as Innova Evo, taste of the wild, etc.
